We will have very strict rules. Our rules are for your safety and the safety of our horses, ducks, dogs and cats. Parents are encouraged to discuss basic safety rules with their children before camp.
Horses are large and can be unpredictable. We have rules in place to help protect you and the animals. We want everyone to have fun so be sure to follow these rules.
- NEVER HURT THE ANIMALS – HITTING, KICKING, BITING ARE NOT ACCEPTABLE
- ALWAYS WEAR YOUR HELMET AROUND THE HORSES
- Never take a horse for granted. They are not dumb or stupid but they need your constant awareness
- Never stand behind any horse. Use your tone of voice todiscipline a horse if necessary
- Never shout or scream around horses but a firm voice will discipline a horse
- Never run in or around the barn
- Never walk behind a horse without them knowing you are there – Talk to them or pet them to let them know you are there.
- NEVER STAND BEHIND ANY HORSE BECAUSE YOU ARE IN DANGER OF BEING KICKED. ALWAYS STAND TO ONE SIDE OR THE OTHER. NEVER DIRECTLY BEHIND THE HORSE.
- Boots or hard soled shoes are required
- Wear pants or long shorts
- Pick up after yourself and put all tack in the designated area:
- Tack needs to be thoroughly cleaned and returned to its proper location in the tack room
- All brushes/hoof pick need to be picked up and put away in the proper location.
- Hang lead rope and halter on the stall door hook when the horse is put up.
- Put trash and recycling in appropriate containers
- Pick up after your horse
- Hair
- Manure
- Hoof pickings and Etc.
- Make sure your horse is thoroughly cooled down and groomed before going back to the stall
- Be a good example and always pick up after yourself. Pick up after others if they are untidy
- Put away all tack properly and facing in the proper direction
- Our horses, instructors, staff and working students are thoroughly trained to help you learn all aspects of good horsemanship. Don't hesitate to ask for help or to ask questions
- No smoking in or near the barn!!
- You ride at your own risk!
